As you may or may not know, there’s a new sport team in town called the San Francisco Fire. It’s part of the new professional league sport called the Grid League. It is bringing functional fitness co-ed teams from major markets together in a made for TV sport that will be broadcast on NBC this Fall. Pacing in this sport is pretty much non-existent, so these races are fast. Each team is made up of specialists: the workhorse who can do just about anything, the sprinter who can crush any movement under 30 seconds, and the gymnast who can handle unusual movements. Each team has 10 men and 10 women, but is only allowed to start five and five — of which one man and one woman are required to be 40+ athletes. There are 11 races per match lasting about 2 hours in total.
At SportsPlus we are stoked about the start of this new league, and are very proud to announce that we are the official medical provider for the SF Fire team. The men and women on this team truly are amazing. You can learn more about the people who will quickly become your new favorite athletes here, and if you want to learn more about how the grid works check out this quick intro.
You can even watch LIVE in person at Haas Pavilion in Berkley! Next match will be the SF Fire v. Philly Founders on Thursday, August 28th at 7:00pm.
